Description

9:00 Departure

Private taxi guide pick up you from hotel directly toward visiting Royal Palace.  The Royal Palace of Cambodia is a must-visit attraction in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is the official residence of the King of Cambodia and a symbol of the country’s rich history and culture.

1. Royal Treasury

This small building holds a small exhibition of royal costumes and regalia.

2. Throne Hall

The main attraction in the palace compound is the Throne Hall. Topped by a 59m-high tower inspired by the Bayon at Angkor, it was inaugurated in 1919 by King Sisowath. The hall is used for coronations and ceremonies such as the presentation of credentials by diplomats. Many of the items once displayed here were destroyed by the Khmer Rouge.

3. Building with Elephant Dock

This small structure was used by the king and other royal family members to mount and dismount the royal elephants for ceremonies.

4. Banquet Hall

This building was traditionally used for royal dining; today it is used for ceremonial apsara (nymph) dances and training.

5. Napoleon III Pavilion

Check out this curious iron pavilion, located south of the Throne Hall. Given to King Norodom by Napoleon III of France in 1876, it was hardly designed with the Cambodian climate in mind. In fact, it was originally built for the inauguration of the Suez Canal in 1869, before being shipped to Cambodia in pieces.

6. Royal Offices

The administrative offices of the king.

7. North Gate

North gate of the Royal Palace compound.

8. Chan Chaya Pavilion

Performances of classical Cambodian dance were once staged in this pavilion, which is sometimes lit up at night to commemorate festivals or anniversaries.

11:00 Visit National Museum

The National Museum of Cambodia is home to the world’s finest collection of Khmer sculpture: a millennium’s worth and more of masterful Khmer design. It’s housed in a graceful terracotta structure of traditional design (built from 1917 to 1920) with an inviting courtyard garden, just north of the Royal Palace.

12:00 Lunch Break

Our driver guide taxi will recommend you some restaurants.

13:00 Leaving for Wat Phnom

Set on top of a 27m-high tree-covered knoll, Wat Phnom is on the only ‘hill’ in town. According to legend, the first pagoda on this site was erected in 1372 to house four statues of Buddha deposited here by the waters of the Mekong River and discovered by Lady Penh. Hence the city name Phnom Penh or ‘hill of Penh’

14:00 Leaving for Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21)

In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21); it soon became the largest centre of detention and torture in the country. S-21 has been turned into the Tuol Sleng museum, which serves as a testament to the crimes of the Khmer Rouge.

16:00 Leaving for Independ Monument & Sihanouk King’s Statue

The Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, was built in 1958 to memorialise Cambodia’s independence from France in 1953.

It stands on a roundabout in the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city. The Norodom Sihanouk Memorial, also called the Statue of King Father Norodom Sihanouk, is a monument commemorating former King Norodom Sihanouk located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The bronze statue is 4.5 meters tall and is housed under a 27 meter high stupa in the park east of the Independence Monument

End the trip at 17:00
